Too often I’ve been told:
Teaching is a woman’s job.
Women are smarter?
Women are more patient?
Women are more nurturing?
Women are more willing to work for less pay?
(But they can do that with any occupation)
Is teaching really a woman’s job?
Or are the men who say this afraid to stand in front of a classroom with 30
(if you’re fortunate)
Students looking to you for guidance, inspiration, structure, protection, mental stimulation, academic challenges…
Teaching is not a woman’s job
Teaching is a humane job
