This Yellow-skin, peeled
Reveals modest beginnings
A far cry from those fair – fictitious Whites –
Ivory Men – more blessed
I scoured this Yellow-skin –
In the bubble bath
Of expectation – anticipating to be let in –
But wasn’t
The Miracle: I cooked steak & pork chops
Rather than turon and sinigang –
Slackened –
And learnt contempt for my generation
This Yellow-skin, peeled
Reveals my insides – White –
O! But invisible to them –
My Pinipig-Pinoy Heart
