A city in Hindi is known as the shehar –
Rockier and more symbolic in the vernacular.
In the evenings, a myriad of leaves,
The city-crowds resemble a hive of thieves.
A mirage of prosperity for outsiders,
But a hopeless reality for insiders.
It is an ongoing love for the strong-hearted
Though dreams everyday here are looted.
And yet to live in the city is a dream of mine,
I, who float in it and try to preserve what is mine.
